This article analyzes the general concept about capitalism, specifically in relation to the control of the economy and possible fraud that can affect free competition, based on the Brazilian market. It also deals with real cartels, trusts and holding companies and how the state acts in the face of these monopolies and disguised oligopolies. The problem faced by research is whether, does the government also work to solve the problem when it comes to state-owned enterprises, or is supervision only effective when we talk about private companies? The main objective is to analyze the mechanisms of competition control. It concludes that the principle of free competition is constantly violated and it becomes extremely important that CADE - Administrative Council of Economic Defense - exercise its function of investigating and deciding, without any difference between public and private companies. The research was carried out by the technique of bibliographic research, articles and published studies, in which the main concepts were explored in such a way as to have a greater understanding of the exposed matter.
